Part bulletin board, part library, part self-managed Human Resources Department, it is a convenient method by which employers can broadcast information on a company-wide basis (i.e., the notice for a blood drive, or the invitation to the company picnic). By the same token, it is there, waiting for employees, when the time is right for them to retrieve what they need (i.e., paystubs or orientation handbooks). Moreover, to make processing payroll more effective and convenient for all concerned, employees can change their own personal information.

As is usually the case with portals such as this, to gain access, employees who have been added to the system need only enter a keyword and a password. For employers, it is a highly effective method of communicating with employees.
